From a fishing village to a tourist resort

The city of Hurghada is a very young resort, where tourism has only started to develop since the 80s. But, at the same time, Hurghada is not just about hotel chains, as many travellers believe. The city is quite large and diverse. Here you can find both feneshebel hotel chains, expensive neighbourhoods, villas and yachts, and local Arab neighbourhoods, among which there are fishermen’s districts, with which the development of the city began in the early 20th century. In Hurghada there are no historical values, for which the country of the Pyramids and eternal summer is famous — after all, not for nothing Egypt is called the cradle of the most ancient civilisation. But by going outside the hotel, each traveller can get to know another part of Hurghada, seeing the local flavour and life of ordinary people, national dress of locals, Arabian quarters and modern districts.

Hurghada sightseeing tour will start after lunch (approximately at 14.00), we will pick you up from the hotel by a comfortable minibus. During the tour you will learn from our professional guide the history of this young city, as well as see the first hotel in Hurghada, Sheraton, which gave its name to the modern central street of Hurghada, the panoramic promenade, which offers a stunning view of the entire city, the local colour — the fishing quarters, from which the development of the city began, the chic promenade — Marina Port with numerous cafes, restaurants and yachts. In the Marina you will be able to take stunning photos against the backdrop of the sea scenery. And then you will get acquainted with the two religions of Egypt: in spite of the fact that Egypt is a Muslim country, the percentage of the population is 90% Muslim and 10% Coptic Christians. You will visit the central mosque of El Mina, where women will have the opportunity to turn into oriental beauties for a while and make unique photos in the national dress (at the entrance to the mosque all women are given fully covered clothes called abbaya), you will also visit the church in Hurghada — the largest Coptic temple in the city. During these visits, your guide will tell you about the peculiarities of the two religions, customs and traditions. You will also get to see the local colour when you will visit fruit and vegetable market.
